Shelter
Solstice had been dumped with her six siblings in a kennel down the road from an animal shelter. The shelter took them in, but she had a euthanasia deadline due to her apparent leg injury. She wasn’t putting weight on her back left leg. Austin Humane Society pulled her just in the nick of time. “Despite her rough start in life, AHS is committed to making her comfortable and healing her wounds. She’s a little miracle,” said AHS staff.
Vet Visit
Solstice has a suspected broken left hind hip. She wasn’t putting any weight on her back left leg. She desperately needed x-rays to determine the next best steps for her treatment and healing. The vet gave her pain medication to help her be comfortable while she waited her turn to get examined.
After evaluating her x-rays, the vet determined that she’s little enough and the break is clean enough that she will not need surgery on her leg. Solstice will need to be in a cast for several weeks, with weekly cast changes since she’s growing so quickly.

Foster
Solstice is a total wiggle worm! She never stops moving and loves to nuzzle and sniff her surroundings. “During her vet exam, she was so curious about the stethoscope and kept trying to take little nibbles out of it!”
