Max

Max was surrendered to Wags and Walks in Los Angeles after his owner developed dementia, and tragically could not care for him any longer.

Rescue staff shared that he is the happiest, most easy going dog in the world. He is friendly with all of the people he meets and has a real pep in his step for a 12-year-old!

Shortly after Max was welcomed into rescue, he was taken to the vet for his exam. It was determined that he was suffering dental disease and a collapsing trachea. Max had also developed a significant cough. He underwent x-rays to determine the cause and the medical team discovered that Max’s heart was enlarged.

He will require ongoing visits to the cardiologist and medication to ensure his heart is working properly, in addition to a dental procedure. If untreated, Max will be at risk for a significantly shortened lifespan, heart failure, and respiratory distress. Luckily, the medical team believes the collapsing trachea will resolve after he sheds a few pounds.
