Shelter
Maggie was brought to the Downey Animal Shelter in Los Angeles as a 9-year-old stray in December of 2021. When the team from Deity Animal Rescue saw her and her wonky ear, that matched Doug’s, they knew she had to be a 15/10.
Vet Visit
It was determined that Maggie was suffering from chronic ear infections in addition to painful arthritis in her back hips. She was prescribed antibiotics for her ears and pain management medication for her hips.
Adoption & Ongoing Care
Despite Maggie’s ongoing medical challenges, she was adopted by the most dedicated family. She is best buddies with her new brother, Titan.
Fortunately, Maggie’s arthritis can be managed with pain medication and anti-inflammatories. She also requires bloodwork 1-2 times a year to ensure her body is tolerating the medication.
However, her ear infections have posed more of an ongoing issue. Maggie has developed a resistance to the treatment, which sometimes results in a painful (and expensive) flare up. These flare ups require additional medication and testing.
