Rescue
Forgotten Dogs Rescue was contacted by a vet partner to rescue a puppy who had been surrendered to the clinic.
Cricket is suffering from “swimmer’s syndrome.” She had stains and sores on her inner thighs from laying in urine and dragging herself around. Swimmer’s syndrome is a rare condition where a puppy is unable to stand and walk. It is aptly named, as the puppy’s legs splay out and in order to move they have to paddle their tiny legs to move.
Thankfully, Cricket was rescued to ensure that she would receive all the medical care she needed to gain her mobility.
Vet Visit & Physical Therapy
Cricket immediately began physical therapy, including hydrotherapy and acupuncture, under the guidance of her vet. Her fosters are incredible, and have completed her routine exercises at home every few hours- even throughout the night.
Although Cricket has made progress over several weeks, her medical team has noted she is suffering from a high grade luxating patella and one of her front legs is not responding to strength building exercises as hoped. She may require multiple surgeries to correct both issues in the future.
