Liza found her forever home on the same day as Cherry, 12/3. Just hours after the adoption was finalized, our contact at her rescue received a text from her new owners that said “I would say we are pretty obsessed with her lol” and the pic above. Liza is the second 15/10 to be adopted. Our commitment to her doesn’t end here. We’ll continue to cover any and all medical expenses related to the skin condition that initially caused potential adopters to turn away. You can scroll through Liza’s entire journey below.
Liza was rescued from North Central Animal Shelter. She arrived there on 11/5/21 as a stray. Her 8-pound body was itchy and uncomfortable. Her paws were swollen and irritated. The alopecia that affected her coat causes her to be essentially hairless, but her bubbly personality and silly teeth made us swoon.
Freedom Ride (11/10/21)
Here she is on her way out of the shelter. Liza got a spot in the front seat and tip-tapped in excitement the whole way to her vet exam. The cozy blanket in her crate was Liza’s soft landing, and as soon as we get her skin condition under control, she will be comfortable and beaming with happiness.
Liza accepted her exam like a champ. Her skin needs further testing, so she will see a dermatologist to pinpoint the cause of the inflammation and discomfort. The vet expects that her hair loss is a result of flea dermatitis, the body’s reaction to a bad flea infestation that went untreated. Liza has not had an easy life, and her condition of her skin shows that. She had a medicated bath, an injection of antibiotics, and went to her foster home to soak up the coziness of her new life.
Liza is thriving in her foster home. She has proven to be potty trained and already has her favorite spot on the grass. Her appetite is flourishing, and she walks great on a leash. Her foster mom says she is super chill, and she loves to snooze and hang with her two foster siblings.
Liza appreciated all your well wishes before her dermatologist appointment very much. It went well and she has a new special diet, new special shampoo, and several medications to tackle her flea allergy dermatitis. We should ALSO have an exciting announcement about Liza very soon.
