Shelter
One morning, the staff at Louisiana SPCA opened their gates to find that a dog crate had been thrown over the fence into their yard. Inside the crate they found a terrified and timid Violet. She had extensive skin problems, which is why they suspect her owner surrendered her. Despite her traumatizing arrival, Violet revealed how sweet she can be, and taking care of her was an easy decision for LASPCA.

Vet Visit
Based on the appearance and severity of Violet’s skin condition, vets suspect it’s been a chronic issue she’s struggled with. Upon arrival she was verified to have a yeast infection, and skin scrapes detected live demodex mites. She has been put on different steroids, antibiotics, and a special food in hopes to minimize her issues thus far. Next steps are to visit a doggy dermatologist to determine the root cause of her skin infections.

Foster
When she first arrived at the rescue, Violet was timid and fearful. After several days of visiting with the rescue workers and getting plenty of treats, she slowly began rebuilding trust with humans again and showed off her sweet side. Violet is currently in foster care with one of the LASPCA team members, so she still gets to visit all of her rescue friends every day.
