Rescue
Toast is a 9 week old husky. He was brought to Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle, a partner shelter of his rescue, Forgotten Dogs, in extreme distress. He was drooling, not eating, lethargic, his gums were pale, and he was struggling to breathe. His owners could not pursue treatment so rather than euthanize him they agreed to surrender him. He needed round the clock care and treatment to be stabilized.

Vet Visit
The hospital did a limited ultrasound, bloodwork, radiographs and a distemper PCR and he was hospitalized for two days. He also received oxygen support during his stay. The radiograph revealed respiratory distress syndrome, inflammation, and some seizure-like activity. Luckily with antibiotics, fluids and oxygen support Toast was able to leave the hospital after two days. He is eating, drinking, taking oral meds and wagging his tail at everyone he meets. They do not believe it’s distemper. The reasons in vet report he could have had this happen were electrocution (although no burns were found), strangulation or infectious disease or something else unknown.

Medical Hold
Toast is still on medical hold until all his tests are complete. We can confirm he is an absolute sweetheart and everyone loves him! The hospital chose his name, his doctor particularly loved Toast so his name is Toast!
