We’re so sorry to announce the passing of Posie. Her cancer returned and spread to her lungs very quickly. She collapsed, and in a final act of love, she was freed from any pain.
Posie’s forever family drove all the way from Idaho to LA to adopt her, which is the easiest way to tell you how special she was. They felt an immense privilege and responsibility to show her what love was, and they succeeded in a way I can only describe as inspiring. Our thoughts are with them and her many furry siblings. Rest easy, Pink Posie.
We were notified about Posie Monday night. Deity Animal Rescue, our rescue partner, was on their way to her before noon on Tuesday. She didn’t react to shelter volunteers at first, but eventually let people pet her and made her way into some laps.
Freedom Ride (12/13/21)
She brightened up a bit on her way out of the shelter. She also let us give her a little mohawk.
Posie got an egg mcmuffin from Rick the vet tech. It was a rare rainy day in LA during her freedom ride and she loved it! The doctor believes she has a heart murmur that could be from anemia, dehydration, etc. There are many masses in mammory chain, including one that’s ulcerated. She received fluids for dehydration and an antibiotic for the infected mass. We will re-asses in 2 weeks. At which time we’ll most likely do x-ray and blood work to determine if she is healthy enough for spay and mass removal.
Posie’s new family drove all the way from Idaho to pick her up. She made it home in time for Christmas. She has many brothers and sisters, and we couldn’t be more confident that her life has significantly improved.
Posie was cleared for surgery yesterday. She’ll be spayed and have those lumps and bumps removed.
She did so well! And her IV bandage is pink! She may look sad here but she’s doing great and has the company and support of her siblings.
