Shelter

Our rescue partner, Bosley’s Place, specializes in the rescue of neonatal puppies. Mykonos was turned in to a shelter by a bulldog breeder because of her evident cleft palate deformity. She was set to be euthanized when Bosley’s Place stepped in to help. They rescued her and provided round-the-clock care and special tube feedings to Mykonos in hopes she would get stronger.

Vet Visit

Mykonos has been evaluated by a veterinarian, but is still too young to determine if she needs surgery to repair her cleft palate. As she’s getting bigger, she’s eating and drinking like a normal dog without issue so far. Unless she develops pneumonia from aspirating her food or water, she won’t require surgery.

However, as Mykonos has grown, she has developed some strange behaviors, and there may be other congenital issues occurring, possibly in her brain and is at risk of injuring herself.

Now that Mykonos is 8 months old, she’s scheduled for further evaluation. She will have an MRI of the brain, bloodwork and other testing to try to identify what issues Mykonos is experiencing.

“Mykonos came to us as a baby and she has grown into a friendly, feisty little girl,” said the staff at Bosley’s Place. Mykonos has been adopted by one of the vet techs who provided support to her when she first was taken in by Bosley’s Place. Not only does she get round-the-clock professional care from her mom, but Mykonos also gets round-the-clock loves and cuddles from her too.
