Crawler was quiet in the crate. Mac’s Mission had just picked her up from her house after her owner surrendered her to their vet clinic. Ten days previous, Crawler had been attacked by multiple dogs in her house.
Her front legs are deeply and horribly injured and infected. “The smell, I can tell you, had us rolling our windows down in the truck during transport it was so atrocious,” said the transporters for Mac’s Mission.
She was severely infected and dehydrated upon rescue and went straight to the vet immediately after rescue. She was calm and quiet through the entire examination. Even though she was in obvious, severe pain, she never reacted poorly to anyone examining or handling her and her injured legs.
Crawler’s injuries are extensive. She has no pulse in one leg and a weak pulse in the other. She is currently at the clinic regaining some of her strength. Once she’s more stable, she’ll undergo amputation of at least one leg – the severity of the injuries have made it non-salvageable. Depending on how infected the wounds are in the other leg, she may need it amputated as well.
Please be cautious when viewing the images below, as they depict Crawler’s open, infected injuries on her two front legs.
Miss Crawler is still in medical hold while she regains her strength and awaits her surgical procedures. She will need a front-wheeled wheelchair once she’s able to move around and physical therapy to ensure she can live a comfortable life.
